Grade 10 GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform general janitorial and custodial work in connection with the cleaning and maintenance of assigned building areas.
Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for special events as required.
Move furniture, equipment, books, and office supplies for relocations as required.
Perform related work as required.
Follows the University's best practices to build and/or support student academic success and retention, and assist in meeting strategic objectives for persistence and timely graduation of all the student population.

Head of Custodial Section or other employees of higher grade, who provide instruction, assign work, and review performance through inspections and reports for compliance with standard procedures.

DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and drinking fountains in accordance with established university health standards.
Clean all surfaces in offices, classrooms, common spaces, restrooms, laboratories, meeting rooms, and other spaces in university facilities.
Empty and clean waste receptacles in university facilities.
Transport contents to designated disposal sites.
Sweep, mop, strip, wax, polish, buff, and apply special finishes to floors.
Vacuum, shampoo, and spot clean carpets and walk-off mats.
Change light bulbs as required for both inside fixtures and external fixtures around the perimeter of buildings.
Clean lenses and lighting fixtures.
Clean return air grilles and supply diffusers.
Wash the interior and exterior of windows and glass surfaces as required.
Dust, polish, remove graffiti from and rearrange furniture in university spaces.
Move furniture, equipment, books, musical instruments, laboratory equipment, etc.
within and between university facilities.
Set up staging, chairs, tables, or other required equipment for special events.
Dismantle set-ups at the conclusion of special events.
Lock/unlock buildings; turn on/turn off lighting for buildings as required.
Identify maintenance or repair need and report condition to the Report Center for work order identification.
Determine cleaning supplies required for assigned work areas and order materials through supervisor.
Make general repairs of a minor nature using simple hand tools, i.
e.
, tighten screws on furniture, snake toilet drains, change belts on vacuum cleaners.
Sweep and clean walkways around assigned buildings.
Keep entries free of snow and ice and other debris.
Service bottled water stations.
Deliver supplies and equipment to university buildings as required.
Work with other trades in maintenance, repair, and construction work in university buildings under the supervision of qualified craft workers.
May be temporarily assigned to a Grounds crew for peak maintenance periods or for special events needs (See Maintainer I - Grounds Job Description for possible assignment details).
