Special Education Teacher - Severe Disabilities

The Schwartz School operates a year round school program, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a special education school, designed to educate and support students ages 3 to 22 years old with physical and cognitive disabilities. We have a long-standing reputation in the community as a provider of exceptional educational and therapeutic services for children with special needs. Our compassionate and professional staff includes licensed teachers, licensed therapists in the areas of speech/language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and sensory integration/sensory processing, nurses and related paraprofessionals.
About this Role:
Our Special Education Teachers lead creative, engaging, age and ability appropriate lessons designed to address the goals of each student's unique needs. They strive to create an environment that is not only academically challenging, but facilitates interactions among children that provide opportunity for social, emotional and cognitive growth.
Special Education Teachers are responsible for supervising and instructing Teacher Assistants and other collaborative staff.
Key Skills:
Knowledge of educational assessment practices
Behavior management techniques
Ability to communicate sensitively to children and their families
Comfortable in providing instruction and feedback to other team members
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Special Education
MA DESE Special Education License required
MA DESE Severe Disabilities All Ages required
2+ years of Special Education teaching experience strongly preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
